Lift Support Shock
A lift support shock, also known as a gas lift support or gas spring lift support, is a mechanical device that uses compressed gas to provide a lifting or damping force. It consists of a cylinder filled with pressurized gas, a piston, and a rod attached to each end of the piston.
When the lift support shock is compressed, the piston moves and compresses the gas inside the cylinder, creating a force that opposes the compression. This force can be used to lift or hold open heavy objects such as car hoods, trunks, and tailgates.
In addition to providing lifting force, lift support shocks can also be used to dampen the movement of heavy objects. This is achieved by controlling the speed at which the piston moves through the gas in the cylinder. By adjusting the amount of gas in the cylinder and the size of the orifice through which the gas flows, the speed of the piston can be controlled to provide smooth and controlled movement.
Lift support shocks are commonly used in a wide range of applications, from automotive and aerospace to furniture and medical equipment. Lift support struts are typically designed to be durable and long-lasting, with many models rated for tens of thousands of cycles of use.
