Dieser Stickstoff wird unter hohem Druck eingespritzt. Je h\u00f6her dieser Druck ist, desto gr\u00f6\u00dfer ist die Kraft, mit der die Kolbenstange (der \u201ed\u00fcnne\u201c Teil der Gasfeder) aus dem Geh\u00e4use gleitet. Damit bei der Bewegung der Kolbenstange kein Stickstoff entweicht, gleitet die Stange durch eine Dichtung am Ende des Geh\u00e4uses, die die Stange dicht umschlie\u00dft. Das Geh\u00e4use enth\u00e4lt neben dem Stickstoff auch eine kleine Menge \u00d6l. Das \u00d6l sorgt f\u00fcr eine zus\u00e4tzliche D\u00e4mpfung, bis die Kolbenstange ihre Endposition erreicht hat (vollst\u00e4ndig \u201eein\u201c oder \u201eaus\u201c). Dieses \u00d6l hat jedoch noch einen anderen Zweck. Es sorgt daf\u00fcr, dass die Dichtung weich bleibt, um eine bessere Abdichtung um die Kolbenstange herum zu gew\u00e4hrleisten, und erm\u00f6glicht es der Stange, mit weniger Reibung ein- und auszufahren (Schmierung). Zum Beispiel ist die Position der Gasdruckfeder universal bei ge\u00f6ffneter Klappe eine andere als bei geschlossener Klappe.
